Gainesville Modern Quilters meets this Wednesday, April 3, from 7:00 to 9:00 in Vanessa’s new shop Crafty Gemini, 501F NW 23rd Avenue in Gainesville! The new location is just down the street from the Sewing Coop. We are having a party to celebrate the location so remember to bring something to share! We are also continuing work on our low-volume block swap so bring your new blocks–our goal is to have all our blocks made by the August meeting so we can commence swapping. And we always want to see what you’re working on so bring your show and tell.
Congratulations to Vanessa on this exciting new chapter in the Crafty Gemini story. We are so excited to see the space in person! See everyone Wednesday!
GMQ will meet this Wednesday at 7:00 pm at the Sewing Coop. Please remember not to show up earlier than 6:55 so we can respect Vanessa’s work space.
Has everyone been working on their low-volume plus blocks? I’ve seen some great ones on Instagram so I’m excited to see what everyone has been working on. Bring whatever you have completed so far! We’ll also have recap from QuiltCon from attendees. We had at least five GMQ members in Nashville and five GMQ quilts in the show, including our amazing Charity Quilt!
As always, we’ll have show and tell. Hope to see you on Wednesday!
Don’t forget to bring your low-volume fat quarters for our swap and your block ideas. And, we’ll have time for Show and Tell.
Remember that anyone can suggest ideas for future meetings: is there a skill you want to learn, design concept you’d like to explore, do you have a special technique that you want to share with everyone, or a group project to propose? Bring your ideas and we’ll start to plan out future meetings!
Gainesville Modern Quilters will meet on Wednesday, February 6 at 7:00 pm at the Sewing Coop. We had a great turnout at the January meeting and hope we’ll see some of those new faces back in February!
We have a fun new project in the works–a low-volume block swap! Don’t know what the heck that means? No worries! We’ll be bringing fat quarters of low volume prints from our stashes (whites and grays) and we’ll talk about what makes a print low volume.
We’ll also be voting on which block to make for our swap! So bring your block ideas! It can be your own design or a free pattern.
And! We’ll do show and tell as always.
Hope to see you there!
Gainesville Modern Quilters meets this Wednesday, October 3, at 7:00 pm at the Sewing Coop. We will be using the longarm to quilt our entry in the QuiltCon Charity Quilt competition. If you’ve ever wanted to give longarming a try–this is your chance! Vanessa is an amazing teacher so even newbies can add some quilting to this gorgeous group project. And we’ll have show and tell like always. Hope to see you tomorrow!
