Don’t forget to bring your low-volume fat quarters for our swap and your block ideas. And, we’ll have time for Show and Tell.
Remember that anyone can suggest ideas for future meetings: is there a skill you want to learn, design concept you’d like to explore, do you have a special technique that you want to share with everyone, or a group project to propose? Bring your ideas and we’ll start to plan out future meetings!
Gainesville Modern Quilters will meet on Wednesday, February 6 at 7:00 pm at the Sewing Coop. We had a great turnout at the January meeting and hope we’ll see some of those new faces back in February!
We have a fun new project in the works–a low-volume block swap! Don’t know what the heck that means? No worries! We’ll be bringing fat quarters of low volume prints from our stashes (whites and grays) and we’ll talk about what makes a print low volume.
We’ll also be voting on which block to make for our swap! So bring your block ideas! It can be your own design or a free pattern.
And! We’ll do show and tell as always.
Hope to see you there!
Gainesville Modern Quilters meets this Wednesday, October 3, at 7:00 pm at the Sewing Coop. We will be using the longarm to quilt our entry in the QuiltCon Charity Quilt competition. If you’ve ever wanted to give longarming a try–this is your chance! Vanessa is an amazing teacher so even newbies can add some quilting to this gorgeous group project. And we’ll have show and tell like always. Hope to see you tomorrow!
Happy fall, y’all! Gainesville Modern Quilters meets this Wednesday (September 5) at the Sewing Coop! We’ll be turning in our blocks for the QuiltCon Charity Quilt challenge. Remember to take out your papers and make sure your blocks are labeled by number. We will start to layout the quilt and maybe even get started on some piecing! So excited to see how this comes together. Of course, we’ll have show and tell so bring your finished projects, works-in-progress, or let us know what you are thinking about making next!
Hope everyone had a great 4th! GMQ meets tomorrow, July 11, at 7:00 pm at the Sewing Coop. We will be sharing progress on our Charity Quilt blocks and trading scraps, so please bring any completed blocks and any leftover fabric you might have in the colors. If you haven’t started, no worries! Blocks are not due until the September meeting.
If you have any ideas for workshops, demos or other activities that you would like to add to the calendar, please let us know! We will start planning the guild’s fall calendar as well as our usual show and tell!
