Meeting: October 3

Gainesville Modern Quilters meets this Wednesday, October 3, at 7:00 pm at the Sewing Coop. We will be using the longarm to quilt our entry in the QuiltCon Charity Quilt competition. If you’ve ever wanted to give longarming a try–this is your chance! Vanessa is an amazing teacher so even newbies can add some quilting to this gorgeous group project. And we’ll have show and tell like always. Hope to see you tomorrow!

Meeting September 5

Happy fall, y’all! Gainesville Modern Quilters meets this Wednesday (September 5) at the Sewing Coop! We’ll be turning in our blocks for the QuiltCon Charity Quilt challenge. Remember to take out your papers and make sure your blocks are labeled by number. We will start to layout the quilt and maybe even get started on some piecing! So excited to see how this comes together. Of course, we’ll have show and tell so bring your finished projects, works-in-progress, or let us know what you are thinking about making next!

GMQ meeting tomorrow!

Hope everyone had a great 4th! GMQ meets tomorrow, July 11, at 7:00 pm at the Sewing Coop. We will be sharing progress on our Charity Quilt blocks and trading scraps, so please bring any completed blocks and any leftover fabric you might have in the colors. If you haven’t started, no worries! Blocks are not due until the September meeting.

If you have any ideas for workshops, demos or other activities that you would like to add to the calendar, please let us know! We will start planning the guild’s fall calendar as well as our usual show and tell!

Clammy curves workshop May 2

I am excited to be teaching a brief workshop on using the Clammy ruler to make half circle, quarter circle and orange peel blocks! If you have a Clammy, please bring it! Otherwise we can share. You will also need a rotary cutter (small size) and two fat quarters of different fabrics. Solids are good (always in my opinion!) but patterns will work, as well.

Our meeting will be at the Sewing Coop, May 2 from 7:00 to 9:00. We will also talk guild business and have plenty of time for show and tell!
