GMQ Goes to QuiltCon!

Courtney, Kati and her adorable quilter-in-trainingĀ  with the Best in Show quilt “Bling”

A bunch of our guild members went to the first QuiltCon East in beautiful Savannah. Some of us took classes and some worked the floor, we all admired the stunning quilts and had a great time! It was such an amazing opportunity to meet quilters from other guilds, learn from leaders in the modern quilt movement, play fun games, get free stuff (looking at you Courtney and Kati–masterful getters of quilty goodness), test out machines, and see some really fabulous quilts. Here are some of our favorite pictures from QuiltCon 2017!

GMQ meeting this Wednesday

Hi everyone!

Gainesville Modern Quilters meets this Wednesday, March 1, at 7:00 pm at the Millhopper Branch Library. We will be sharing our stories from QuiltCon and showing what we’re working on! Some of us are participating in the Riley Blake fabric challenge–so please feel free to share your progress on your challenge project!

Hope to see you there!

GMQ meeting, February 1

Hi everyone! Gainesville Modern Quilters meets this Wednesday, February 1, at 7:00 pm at the Millhopper Branch Library. We will have a special guest attending who will be presenting about the upcoming Tree City Quilt Show.

And, of course, we’ll have plenty of time for show and tell.

Remember that any member can suggest a topic for future meetings–these can include swaps, quilt-alongs, charity projects, tutorials, demonstrations, workshops–and our officer positions are open so don’t be shy about volunteers for one of these roles!

Riley Blake fabric challenge–enter tomorrow!

Deadline to enter is tomorrow, December 17!

We thought this would be fun to do as a guild. Enter on December 17 and your fabric will be shipped to the guild. We will distribute at the next meeting after the shipment arrives–probably February. We thought we might do some sort of GMQ challenge and Vanessa offered to donate a prize. Since we are a small group–your odds of winning a pretty good! Thanks, Vanessa! We’ll figureĀ out the details in January but you’ve got to be in it to win it–so mark your calendars for tomorrow December 17 and enter!

Projects are due in April. All the exact details about the challenge are found on MQG site–link above.

Happy holidays, everyone!
