April 6 meeting recap

We had a great April meeting and are pleased to welcome a new member, Denise McCulloch! Lora shared some great work and demonstrated the ruler quilting technique she used on this gorgeous quilt. IMG_1958

Almost everyone had some show and tell; we’ve been busy!

Coming up we have our first mini-retreat sew day on April 30 at the Downtown Branch of the Alachua County Public Library. Stay tuned for a post with all the details and directions coming very soon!

We decided that we will work on the charity quilt challenge for QuiltCon. The theme is “playing with scale”; we are going BIG! The color palette and all the details are on the MQG website linked to above. We’ll share ideas and examples of blown-up motifs at the May meeting. If you have fabrics in the palette, please bring them to the meeting.

-I’ll continue to keep everyone posted on the new challenge with FreeSpirit’s Habitat line of fabric.
– If you’re interested in submitting original quilt designs to magazines let me know which one and I can help you find the contact to send your idea to.
-and show-n-tell of course…..
