Gainesville Modern Quilters meets this Wednesday, October 2, from 7:00 to 9:00 in the Crafty Gemini shop! We will be hand binding the Habitat for Humanity charity quilt as a group and we’ll have the patterns (and maybe the fabric) for the letter blocks for our QuiltCon Charity Quilt. Bring your finished quilts and WIP projects for show and tell–
We hope to see everyone on Wednesday!
To be on the safe side, we are going to cancel the Wednesday, September 4, GMQ meeting. Our next meeting is planned for October 2. We will see if we can organize a sew day to get started on the Charity Quilt before then but we should still be able to stay on track.
Hope everyone stays safe!
Gainesville Modern Quilters will meet this week–Wednesday, August 7, 7:00-9:00 at the Crafty Gemini Shop. It’s the meeting you’ve all been waiting for! We will be swapping our low-volume plus blocks. As a reminder, the goal was to make 30 blocks for the swap plus 2 extra for the Habitat for Humanity quilt. If you didn’t make that many blocks, no worries, you can just swap for the number you made.
We’ll also pick a design for our QuiltCon Charity Quilt. The theme is text and the palette is black, gray and white.
And–show and tell! Hope to see you there!
The Gainesville Modern Quilters meeting will be postponed one week because of the holiday. We will meet next Wednesday, July 10, from 7:00 to 9:00 in the Crafty Gemini Shop! That means you get an extra week to work on your low-volume plus blocks! I know that I need it—I’ve stalled out at 18 but I’m inspired by Lora and Laura’s progress–check them out on Instagram (@loradouglas and @appalachiensis). We’ll be talking about ideas for the QuiltCon charity quilt challenge (https://www.quiltcon.com/charity-quilt-challenge-2020) the theme is text and the color palette is black, white and gray. We can’t wait to hear your ideas!
Hope everyone has a Happy Fourth!
Gainesville Modern Quilters meet this Wednesday, June 5, at the Crafty Gemini Shop (501F NW 23rd Ave, Gainesville, FL 32609)! We have lots of new members, so this month we are making scrappy name tags. We will have supplies on hand but bring your favorite scraps to make your name tag. Alaine will teach us some of her hand sewing magic. We will also talk about our next guild project. We are getting closer to our August swap of our low-volume plus blocks so keep working on those and of course we’ll have time for show and tell!
The meeting is from 7:00 to 9:00–hope to see you there!
